Lance of the Midwood Stag

The people of Midwood had long told tales of the aggressive wildlife that inhabited the forest. When woodsmen and hunters began to come under frequent attack by animals near the villages, a master huntsman was elected to investigate. The one consistency in the accounts of the attacks was the presence of a giant, white stag. The huntsman set out to locate and fell the creature, hoping it would end the assaults.

After a month in woods, the huntsman emerged. He was near death, bleeding from multiple wounds. He was badly broken as well, as though trampled by a great beast. In his hands he carried a freshly-fashioned pike made of antlers. He died before reaching the village and told no tales of the hunt before breathing his last. However, after his passing the attacks in the forest ceased completely.
